This beach hotel was constructed in 17th century traditional Malay architectural style and won the coveted Aga Khan Award for Architecture. The design of the resort is derived from the elegantly-crafted wooden palaces of Malay sultans from long ago and it involved extensive research into traditional forms of craftsmanship, mainly from the east coast of Malaysia. Malay culture and heritage are clearly present in every aspect of this resort, from the way the rooms and suites are designed, to the elaborate detailing in the woodwork and the Gamelan music played every evening. Tanjong Jara Resort is situated on the East Coast of Peninsular Malaysia, between Kuala Terengganu in the North and Kuantan in the South. The Resort is built on a 17-hectare site facing the South China Sea. The riverine town of Dungun lies west of Tanjong Jara and is eight kilometres away.
The Resort is accessible by road from all major cities within Peninsular Malaysia. It is approximately a mile away from the expressway and one hour drive from Kuala Terengganu Airport. |

* Guests are welcomed with famed Roselle drink, made from the extract of Hibiscus flowers - the same ingredient used in, secret recipe for Roselle chicken. Each day the ringing bell at noon signals the arrival of the day's catch. In Tanjong Jara, the fare on offer is matched in variety only by the settings where you can savour your meal. Gazing out to sea at the Nelayan, under the shade of rustling palms at Teratai Terrace or over the meandering river at Di Atas Sungei.
* Ideally situated away from the beach, the conference hall is able to accommodate between 80 and 100 people. It is a perfect venue for corporate conferences and meetings as well as themed events. Themed events may also be arranged to take place in the garden or on the beach, providing guests with a unique dining experience.
* The Tanjong Club houses the gymnasium and therapy complex with two spa pavilions. The gym is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment, from cardiovascular machines to weights, to suit a variety of needs. The "Well-Being" Centre offers various therapeutic programmes for relaxation and stress relief.
* There are two swimming pools, a pool near the Teratai Terrace and lobby, and another adjacent to the beach near the Tanjong Club. Each pool has towels and deck chairs for sun lovers, and refreshments are served at the pool deck. Situated near The Tanjong Club, there are two tennis courts.
