Questo splendido edificio è stato costruito dalla Delegoa Bay Land Syndicate come parte di un progetto dell'architetto Walter Reid. È stato edificato in 19 mesi, con un costo di duecentomila sterline. L'hotel è stato inaugurato l'1 giugno 1922. Da allora sono stati effettuati vari rinnovi, il più articolato dei quali è stato quello del 1990, che ha dato all'hotel l'aspetto attuale. Completamente climatizzato, il complesso dispone di 177 camere e offre servizio in camera e hall dotata di reception aperta 24 ore su 24. Delle dotazioni fanno parte inoltre cassetta di sicurezza, sportello per il cambio valuta, guardaroba, ascensore, caffetteria, parrucchiere, bar, ristorante, accesso a Internet, servizio in camera e servizio lavanderia e parcheggio.
